A new study finds that people communicate their happiness to others through their perspiration. It is something like a sniff of happiness keep a sorrow away.
Positive emotions are important for overall well-being and yet relatively neglected in research on chemosignaling, arguably because of the stronger survival benefits linked with negative emotions. It is well known that feelings of happiness transfer between individuals through mimicry induced by vision and hearing. An instance would be the effect of smiling. It is almost like an adjacency pair.
The study learns that not only negative affect but also a positive state (happiness) can be transferred by means of odors.
